Oh Give Thanks!

Oh Give Thanks!

Awhile ago we completed a 2 week series at BC called “Beyond Thanksgiving” it truly ministered to me in so many ways and also caused me to get my focus back where it needed to be.

Around Thanksgiving time many of us hear “be thankful” and it can sound so cliche.  The Lord has just been speaking to me that thankfulness isn’t a “this time of year thing” its a “lifestyle thing”.  This is how we are to live our lives!

“O GIVE thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!” Psalms 107:1 AMP

God gave us everything he had.  He gave us Jesus.  This is the greatest gift we could ever receive.  Our response? THANK YOU.  Did you know that we can give something back to God?  We are to give thanks.  One of the greatest gifts we can give to our Father is two words.  THANK YOU.

I’m convinced that Satan is after us keeping our mouths closed and if we do open them he sure doesn’t want thanksgiving coming out.  He wants us to look at the negative of every situation, the negative of what we don’t have, what our spouse or children could improve on, negative things about our friends or leaders/bosses, why we don’t have this, why we can’t do that…blah….blah….blah…..

I was talking with a close friend of mine the other day and something she said really spoke to me.  What if the only thing we let come out of our mouths was what God has said? Not what our situations in life say, not grumbling and complaining, not frustration but simply THANKSGIVING and PRAISE for all that God has done, is doing and will do in our future!  He causes us to triumph!  We reign in life through Christ Jesus!  We can do all things through Him! Thank you for this wonderful country and the freedom we have!  Thank you for my church and pastor!  Thank you for the wonderful friends you have given me!  Thank you for my spouse and family! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Did you know that when we come up against something in our lives the enemy is just waiting for us to speak and declare the negative, bad, and ugly?  But what if instead we began to find something good in that situation and begin praising and thanking God!  Has a friend or family member ruffled your feathers?  Thank God for them today!  Not enough in the bank account?  Thank God today!  Battling a cold?  Thank God that He is your healer!

Today, shut up the enemy and don’t allow him any room through your mouth.

Instead fill your mouth with praise and thanks to God!  When we do this we begin to open up our hearts to receive even more from Him!  Start this week off right by saying……THANK YOU!!!!!
