God’s Word

There is no other book like the Word of God! And it is not just a book - it is living and active. It’s everything to us! So if you’ve ever wondered why so much emphasis is put on getting into God’s Word, this devotion is for you! Let’s look at just a few things God says about His Word.

God’s Word teaches, corrects, prepares and equips us; it is THE standard of Truth:

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

• 2 Timothy 3:16-17

God’s Word is alive and powerful:

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

• Hebrews 4:12

God’s Word is our weapon against the enemy:

Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

• Ephesians 6:17

God’s Word guides us:

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet

    and a light for my path.

• Psalm 119:105

This is just a start, but it helps us see how valuable and powerful God’s Word is. It is the very will of God!
