Taste and See

I’ve been meditating a lot on a particular verse over the last few weeks. Psalms 34:8 says, “Oh taste and see that The Lord [our God] is good! Blessed is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.”

God is good always. This verse actually says we should taste and see that He is good. To me, this means that His goodness should be so evident to us. We never forget it because we are always seeing it and tasting it!

Tasting and seeing His goodness comes from an attitude of thankfulness. As we were driving the other day in the car one of our boys began to point out what was wrong in a situation. I quickly reminded him that instead of pointing out the negative find something positive. I reminded him that life stinks and is not joyful when all we do is see the wrong and negative things in life. Instead, when we begin to find something good and thank The Lord for it we begin to be overwhelmed with His goodness in our lives! We begin to SEE and TASTE His goodness!

The cool part of all of this is simply by us being aware of His very goodness we can give and show that goodness to others! They can begin to see it and taste it too!
