Faithful Living

Faithful Living

In today’s fast-paced technology-based world, it’s rare to find someone who exudes patience and faithfulness in what they’re doing every day.  With so many options and shortcuts at our fingertips, the path to success in many areas of life would seem more easily attainable than they truly are.  While many desire the promotion and position of leadership, few are willing to do what it takes to actually attain it.  The truth is, faithfulness is always the prerequisite for leadership.  Whether it’s your spot on the team, at your job, or in your ministry, faithfulness will always be required to step into a leadership position.  What’s more is that leadership is less about the title and position and more about increasing your sphere of influence.  Me having a specific title is pointless if I’m not increasing my sphere of influence to affect others for Jesus.

If your goal is to lead or be promoted, then change that goal to just be as faithful as you can be so that your focus is the process and not a position.  Any leadership position gained without faithfulness isn’t true leadership at all and it won’t last long.  The great part about living a faithful lifestyle is that you begin to increase your sphere of influence before being handed a title or position of any kind.  People are drawn to faithfulness since it’s not something that is common in the world we live in today.  I love the parable of the three servants in Matthew 25 where a man brought his three servants together and entrusted each of them with his money according to their abilities.  If you know the story well, then you know that the servants with the five bags and two bags were rewarded upon the master’s return and the servant left with one bag was not.  I love what it says in Matthew 25:21 when the master addresses the first servant with the five bags:

The master was full of praise.  ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.  You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities.  Let’s celebrate together!’

Being faithful with what you have now qualifies you for more.  Being faithful with where you’re at now qualifies you for promotion.  Never underestimate the power of faithfulness in your life just because it can seem mundane and boring.  Like a seed, faithfulness is always working whether you can see it working or not and it will always position you for more!
