Faith in Our Great God

Faith in Our Great God

Have you ever awoke with a war already waging in your mind?  Or, maybe you're the one that tosses on the pillow trying to go to sleep at night but those warring thoughts--more like missiles of destruction--keep you awake.  They might be visions of rebellious cancer cells on the loose, bankruptcy banging on the door, or your precious child lost in a world of sin.  Our emotions try to shake loose the very foundations of our faith.

During a situation like this, the Lord reminded me to recount Who our Jesus is.

He's the Jesus of the 10 lepers.
He's Jesus with the mad man of Gadera.
He's Jesus at the Pool of Siloam.
He's Jesus with the widow of Nain.
He's Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus!!

Then He said this:
It's not about our great faith. It's about faith in our great God!  Even the size of the grain of mustard seed...(Matthew 17:20).  Like the children of Israel, build a memorial of God's faithful acts. Then recount His acts in your lives and REJOICE!  Make a celebration and worship Him. NOW!  Faith is NOW.

Unlike the world's custom of celebrating after a victory. In the Kingdom of Heaven we celebrate the victory that Jesus has already secured for us. That's why we celebrate before we see the victory. This is faith.

So, I encourage you to gather with your family or friends and build a memorial of God's goodness and faithfulness to you. Get creative with this memorial. Start stacking up some Jenga blocks, Legos, marshmallows, or polished rocks. As you add each one, recall a specific thing the Lord has done for you.  Pastor Nate calls these "God Talks" and faith comes from hearing (Romans 10:17).

When doubts or fears or unbelief try to shake the foundation of your faith, remind yourself Who this Jesus is we are declaring!  Remember, it's about faith in how great our God is!!
