Who Are You Working For?

Who Are You Working For?

There was a house builder who was extremely loyal to a certain contractor.  After many years of working for him, the contractor came to the man and told him that he was retiring.  He told the builder that he wanted him to build one final house for him before he retired.

Upset that he would no longer have the business from the contractor, the builder decided that he was not going to put the same amount of effort into this final house as he had before.  So he cut corners wherever he could and built a sub-par home in comparison to all his other efforts.  Upon completion of the home, the contractor thanked the builder for his loyalty over the years and told him that this home he built was his gift to him.

Colossians 3:22-25(MSG)
Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible.

Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.

Who are you working for?  Are you working for your earthly boss or your heavenly boss?   Even when men don’t see all that we do, God sees everything and He is who we want to please.  Let me remind you today to do everything, not for man, but for God.
