Front of the Line Pass
In school, one of the most coveted prizes to receive is a
“Front of the Line” pass. Sometimes as a reward or for a drawing,
teachers give out one of these passes. It allows the winner to move to
the front of the line for lunch. Kids love to hold up this pass and walk
around a long line and to get their lunch trays because they are always
hungry!!
When we are hungry for answers to our prayers, sometimes it
feels like we are waiting in a long line to get the answer. But to tell
the truth, God doesn’t make us wait in line while He answers the prayers of all
those needy people in front of us. He’s provided a way for us to move
forward from asking to receiving and every one of us can do it.
THANKSGIVING is God’s Front of the Line Pass!
Jerry Savelle said, “Praise and thanksgiving supernaturally
accelerates the time it takes to see the results in prayer.” To
accelerate is to move forward quickly—that’s the kind of progress I like to
make!
Psalm 34:1 says, “I will bless the Lord at all times.
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Thanksgiving
keeps me moving along rather than getting bogged down in unbelief.
Praising God before my answer comes is faith. Without faith
it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6).
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, “Don’t worry about anything;
instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all
he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything
we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.” Notice the Apostle Paul tells us what to do after we’ve
prayed: thank Him for all He has done!
So, while I’m waiting for the answer to come, praising Him
continually is like receiving that Front of the Line pass!
