Flying
We all like super heroes.
Most have recurring dreams that we are flying around like Superman, or
Green Lantern, or Thor, or… well, you get the picture. We can dream a lot about flying, and in my
dreams it feels so effortless. I’m able
to escape any danger, and my feet do not get tired from having to walk or
run. It’s pretty cool.
When I have these dreams, I’m always reminded of Isaiah
40:28-31. Let’s look at it in the
Amplified Version:
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting
God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow
weary; there is no searching of His understanding.
29 He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has
no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to
abound].
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected]
young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;
31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for,
and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall
lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun];
they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
Dealing with things in this world can be exhausting. That’s why I have to get off of this world
for a while. By waiting on the Lord,
spending time in His Word and listening to Him, I’m able to soar with wings and
get His perspective on things.
If you’ve ever flown in an airplane, you know that nothing
looks as big when you are at 30,000 feet.
Everything looks smaller because you are up so high. God is at a whole different altitude than we
are, and He wants us to come up with Him.
Quit focussing on your problems, get in His Word, and you will be soaring
above it all before you know it.
