Stop Stashing!
Recently I was reading in 1st Peter 4:10 where the bible
says that each of us have received a gift from Him and that we are to use the
gifts to serve others well! I feel like
a lot of times in our lives, we are stashing away our gifts to serve others
well instead of using our gifts to serve others well.
God never places things in our hands to just lay dormant. He
is looking for us to use what He has placed in our hands to serve others
well. You may say " I serve every
week at church!! " I know that feeling but we must gauge our service to
the Lord with what His Word says! I think its amazing if you serve every week
but the bible doesn't say to just serve.
It says to serve others well.
What does that look like for us? I know that the Lord has been dealing with me
to get specific in the different areas I am involved in in serving Him. It pleases Him when we don't just do enough
but when we go over and above in our serving.
We can't effectively serve others well if we are just doing enough to
get by.
When we begin to get specific with all the details of the
areas we serve in and what we can do to make it flow better or be more
prepared, we will see God show up in greater measures. I am reminded of the story with the widow and
the oil found in 2 kings 4.
She could would have missed out on an extraordinary miracle
in provision had she stashed what she had instead of using it how God told her
to through Elisha. When she humbled
herself to a leader and went all out in what the servant of the Lord told her
to do, it preserved her whole house hold in a crazy famine.
She received major increase because she used what God gave
her for the prophet. She served Elisha
well and it turned out to be over and above what she could conjure up!
Faithful is He who calls you, and He will bring it to pass!!
