But…
One crazy little word has a world changing effect on our
lives…it has the ability to set a tone for our lives good or bad!
Not sure we grab the intense change this little word can
bring to our lives. So first off lets
establish what the word “but” actually does when spoken. The word “but” has the ability to totally correct,
challenge, or change what was spoke before hand. Example…I love your shoes…but. We all know that it gets thrown in when we don’t
really believe what we just said.
We tend to use the word “but” to tell one story then stick “but”
in to change what we say...and God did the same! Our lives were heading in a direction and
then “but God” changed the story!
Ephesians 2 New Living Translation (NLT)
Made Alive with Christ
2 Once you were dead because of your
disobedience and your many sins. 2 You used to live
in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the
powers in the unseen world.[a] He is the spirit at work in the hearts
of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used
to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our
sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like
everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we
were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the
dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
The lovely part of this conjunction is that we have the
right to use the same “but” that God did.
He gave us that right! So lets
say it the way He would use it. The
money is a little tight right now “but God” is faithful to make a way where
there seems to be no way! See the “but
God” totally took a nasty negative situation and turned it around!
What area of your life do you need to start saying “but God”
to! Marriage, family, money, healing…the
list could go on and on. At this point
it is okay to point out the problem and then put the “but God” to straighten it
out!
