STRONGEST AT THE END
I have enjoyed running for the last
several years. In this sport I have entered and run in several
races. Each race is different and has it’s own challenges. Some
races have hills, some have rough busy road ways, some have you on grass or
running on rocks in the woods. The one consistent with these races is the
finish line.
When you see the finish line the
energy you get, the excitement you feel, and joy that overcomes you is
unexplainable. It makes all of those challenges you faced during the race
disappear from your thoughts and memories.
It is important for our spiritual
growth to see that finish line. To energize ourselves with the end in
mind. To power through and run because we are almost there. If you
run the race with that end in mind you will run your best race. When you
loose sight of that finish, the kingdom, you will allow your mind to convince
your body to give up. Keep your eyes on the prize and NEVER loose sight
of THE KINGDOM.
Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by
such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and
the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the
race marked out for us. (NIV)
Philippians 3:13-14
“Brothers I do not consider that I
have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and
straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize
of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (ESV)
We need one another. In a relay race
you depend on others as well as yourself. When my friends and I competed
in a relay we did not just let the chips fall, we were very strategic about who
would run which part of the race. In all relays you place your strongest
at the end so that any mistakes made in the first parts of the race could be
made up for in the end.
God will do the same with His finish
line. He will place His strongest at the end. God has planned
His moves in THE CHURCH very strategically. He has placed us here for
“such a time as this” to help bring about the return of Jesus.
Kenneth Copeland brought a word for
this year that talks about the children. He said “But watch for the children.
Watch for the children coming forth with miracle-working power manifest around
them. And they are just children. And they will be just
children. And I’m not talking about 15 to 20 year olds. Of course,
they’re involved. But ‘saith The LORD, ‘ watch the little ones. A child shall
lead them.”
What a great thing to keep in
mind. Our children are hearing a word from the LORD. He has placed
a call in their hearts to be stronger than those before them. In
this relay we will pass the torch and they may end this race for us.
Let’s not get so caught up in our own training that we forget theirs, God has
placed a BIG call on our next generation so let’s work with God to train them
to be the STRONGEST AT THE END.
