Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the
man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and
example],
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers).
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually]
meditates day and night.
And he will be like a tree firmly planted
[and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to
maturity].
Psalm 1:1-3 (AMP)
I think the picture these verses paint for us is so
beautiful!
Have you ever seen a tree like this before? A tree that has
been planted in just the right spot and has grown to be strong and healthy?
Think about that tree. That tree doesn’t just get up and move when it decides
that it doesn’t like where it’s planted. That tree isn’t bothered by the heat,
and it doesn’t complain when storms come. That tree keeps growing and stays
strong! Why? Because its roots go deep!
According to this scripture- when you choose to delight in
God’s Word and keep it in your heart and in your mouth- you will be just like
that tree!
The seasons of life come and go, things are continually
changing all around- but what will you do? Will you stay strong? Will you be
constant, reliable, and dependable? Will you bring life and strength to those
around you?
The ONLY way this will happen is by staying on the Word of
God!
Let your roots go down deep into the water, deep into His
Word! Feed on Him daily, and draw your strength from Him. It won't take long
before you'll start to see some leaves and- just like that tree- through every
season and storm you'll stay strong and flourishing!
